Dear students, A comforting thought for us all to remember is that we are in this together; we are all experiencing unexpected changes, social distancing, empty shelves and worse of all, no more school. However my dear students, this too, shall pass. Shelves will be full, social distancing will develop into the subject of meme’s, and most importantly, schools will be full of all of you again. Until this is all behind us, I want us to keep a promise to each other, stay creative! I will be available on my blog to each of you. I will upload fun (and cool- I hear you grade 6ers) musical activities to keep your creativity flourishing. You know what the best part is? You can involve your family members to join you in all the musical fun. I was only with you for a short time, but a strong bond was able to develop quickly, as creating music & collaborating with each other requires trust and vulnerability, I thank you for allowing this to happen. And students, remember, participating in musical growth is easy! All you have to do is listen. I encourage you to search up different composers and artists (not only the ones you listen to on repeat) take this time to explore the wondrous works of Mozart, Lupe Fiasco, Beethoven, Walk off the Earth... Enjoy the time with your family and loved ones, learn to appreciate the things we take for granted and stay active! Take care of yourselves & each other, and know that I am here to support you during this time. Love, Ms. Jakic |
